Well fam. this is the closing email for the story of Elder Thomas Scoble. It's been a really fun and hard time. I have gained so much. I love my mission. I love the people here and will miss them. I know that Jesus Christ is my savior. I know that this is the TRUE Church of God. I love this work and will be sad to leave.
So the baptism of Tanya Went so well. It was great. The spirit was overwhelming. Tanya looked so happy that day. you couldn't slap that smile off her face. She is doing so great. She is already trying to share the gospel. I did get her the first time too. We then had another great lesson with Miguel. He is still having a hard time seeing the spirit in his life. But he is willing. He will get baptized I know it. We had our last interviews with Pres. It was really good. he gave a lot of good council. Well thats about it for now. I love you all and Will SEE YOU ON SAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CONVERSION STORY

Washington DC South Mission

Missionary: Elder Thomas Scoble

Date: March 26, 2011

The story that I would like to share happened at the very end of my mission. It was my last transfer and I was just called to be a trainer. It was my first time training and I was hoping not to mess it up. So Elder Aker and I went to the Zone Conference and when we were waiting for everyone else to show up, Elder Karen came up to me with a package. He would not let me look at the front. He was telling me that I need to just open it with out looking. I was all excited that it was going to be something good from home. So I pull out the stuff in inside and it is a referral. I tell you what I was so bummed. I was wanting something good from home. The next day after Zone Conference we went to see if could contact the Tanya Bibb. The referral was from a Gladys Knight Concert. Tanya had just been to one in CA. So we went and knocked on the door and Lexy (Tanya’s 13 year old daughter) came to the door. We asked if we could talk to Tanya. She said that she would go get her. Tanya comes down and asked if we could come in and talk. Well she didn’t have a male home (she is a single parent). Then she asked if we could come and sit in her garage. We said that would be fine. We then have a great first lesson with her and Lexy. She was telling us that she had never been to our church before and that she had a friend in CA that was trying to get her to go. We asked her if she would come to church next Sunday. She said that she would be there. We told her that we would call her to reminder her. She came to church and loved it. Our next appt. couldn’t be until next Friday. Tanya works in CA all week long. So that means that she flies back and forth every week. She leaves every Sunday and comes home on every Friday morning. She only has 3 day to spend with her daughter Lexy. We then go to our next lesson with her and it is great. In the lesson she starts to get very emotional. I ask if everything is Ok. “It’s that tone of voice that you are using.” she told me. I then told her that it was not me that it was the spirit. The spirit was very strong in the room. We then asked her to be baptized on March 26, 2011. With tears in her eyes she said that she would be baptized. The Joy that filled my heart I can’t describe. We asked Tanya if she would come to a baptism happening the next day in the Massaponax. It was Gabrielle. Elder Ditty and I had found her and she was getting baptized. She did and she was making friends with everyone there. She was acting like a member already. She was passing out things and was even helping to clean up. Then after the baptism she was telling us that they (the people speaking) were using that tone of voice too. I again told her it was the spirit. She again got very emotional. The next lessons that we had with her were great. She told us that we were her 3rd set of missionaries. She had some things that were holding her back before. She told us that it was about blacks in our church. She didn’t think that our church let black people in. That all went away after she had gone to that Gladys Knight Concert and heard her bare her testimony about the church. She thought if she is Ok with this church then why can’t I. She was so ready to have the Gospel in her life. It just took one testimony of another to help her over come. She is now a baptized member of the church and is doing great. The baptism was so strong. There was a lot of people that come to support Tanya. I feel Lexy was feeling the spirit too. Lexy is not baptized yet. She will be some day. I know that this church is true and that God knows us all. God loves us all and knows us by name. I love my mission and all that I have learned. The things that I have experienced can never be taken away or forgotten. I love my heavenly Father and my Savior Jesus Christ. I love my family and all that they taught me. I love this church and know that the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the true church of God on the earth today. I love my mission and would never trade it for the world. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Subject: Now that you are going home you have to
change your Key Indicators. Out here we call them
Lessons back home we call them Dates. LOL

Why hello. how you doin? Things are going great here. We have a lot of good stuff happening. So I had my 2nd to last interview with Prez. It was really funny. He was asking what i was planning on doing when i go home. And so i told him about the Cruise and Disney World. He then tells me that i need to tell him what time and what boat that I'm going on and that he will be there. Then he was telling me that i need to starting thinking about going on dates. That's where the subject line comes from.LOL I couldn't help but smile. So we went and helped out at a Eagle Scout project. It was a lot of work. all of the kids were just sitting around. I wanted to slap them. Get up and work you pile. After that we went to Tanya's to have another lesson. She is so great. She is just ready to change. Elder Aker shared his whole conversion story. I found out something about him that i never knew. I will not put it in the email. It is too personnel. if you ask me when i come home i might tell you. So Tanya was telling the ward about her Baptism. She love church and kids and church is just full of kids. Then on Monday we went to a converts house and had dinner and a lesson. While we were there the phone rang. so i went and found out what was up. It was one of our members telling us that his Friend that has been coming to church for the last 5 months wants to meet with us. He told him "Well Elder Scoble is about to go home i guess i can meet with him." HECK YES!!!!! Me going home even has it it up side on the work. So we will meet with him on Sunday. Well that's about it for now. I love you all and miss you tons. See you in 2 Weeks.

Subject: Its that Tone of voice that you are using.

So this is a really good story that happened to my comp and I and i wanted to share it with you all. Here it is. So Elder Aker and I received a referral and so we went to go and find the person. Her name was Tanya. When we knocked on her door she just let us right in. talk. She had a really good friend that was a member and had talked to about it all the time. So she knew a lot about the church already. We asked her to come to church and she did. The next time we went over we had a great lesson on the Plan. She was feeling the spirit so strong. Then elder Aker asked her to be baptised. She said yes as she started to tear up. I then asked her to be baptised on the 26th of March. Again she said that she would. I then asked her what she was feeling and she said it is that tone of voice that you are using. I told her that It is the spirit and that it was not me. It was a very powerful moment. We then asked her to come to a baptism that was taking place the next day. She came and said again that the people that were speaking were using that same tone of voice. I think now she knows that it is the spirit. She is doing great and getting ready for her baptism. I'm greatful for moments like that. It is things like that that make a mission. I love my mission and will be sad to go. I know that the things that i have done here have helped someone in their life in some way or another. I thank God for this chance to be here in the greatest mission on earth. I know this to be true. I the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen. thanks for all that you do. I love you all and miss you tons.

Subject: The things that you are about to tell
me will affect missionaries for years to come.

Hi fam. how are things? things are going great here. we are seeing our invest. move closer to the water every time we meet. So we are still meeting with Tanya and she is doing great. We have her on date to be baptised on the 26th of this month. In the last lesson that we had with her it was so filled with the spirit. As we were going through the lesson she was getting really emotional. And we asked if anything was wrong and she said that nothing was wrong it was just the tone of voice that I was using. I was like what tone of voice. She said I can't explain it. I told her it was the spirit. and then Elder Aker Asked her to be baptised and she said yes. and She started to cry. I then ask to to be baptised on the 26 and she said yes. It was a great lesson. She also came to a baptism of some one that i found 7 months ago. She was helping out and talking to everyone. She was born to be in this church. Then she came to church Sunday too. She is doing soooooooooooo great. So the reason that i didn't email yesterday was because of the meeting that I had to go to. It was another meeting on the new training program. One of the guys that runs the MTC came to talk to us. So He asked us a lot of questions to see what we thought about the program and what we like and didn't like. It was not the bad for us. Then They did the something with our new missionaries. and They asked them much harder questions. Things like "Do you think that you are a better teacher then your trainer?" We were not in the room for the when they were being asked questions. But my comp. told me what happened. He said that more then half of the room raised their hands. He said he didn't. I do believe him. They asked a lot of other questions too. The things that we were telling him is going to change the way all missionaries are trained. They will be starting this new program World wide in August 1st. Well that's about it for now. I love you all and miss you tons.

The things that he said were good. It was a really long time to sit and listen. Then the next day I had leadership meeting with the 70 again. It was even longer then zone conf. We got there at 8 and didn't leave until 4. put my to sleep. Then we had this great miracle happen. We had a referral come and so we went to try and meet them and Her name is Tanya and Lexy. They are so golden. We went over the 1st lesson and asked them to come to church. They came the first time. And they loved it. We can baptism them before i go home. well thats about it for now. Things are going good with Elder Aker. He still has a lot to learn. Well i love you all and miss you tons.

Subject: good-bye elder Logan and hello elder Aker

Hello family. well things are going good here. Training is a lot of work. With this new program that they are doing the MTC doesn't even teach the lessons to the new missionaries. They teach them all of the teaching skills and that's it. So my new comp. is Elder Aker. he is from south CA. he is 25 and a convert to the church. He joined when he was 22. I do have to say he is a little weird. He thinks that I'm really funny and now he is trying to act like me. He just is not as funny when he tries. other than that he seems to be a hard worker. He is not too scared to talk to people. So we had our baptism on this week. It was great a lot of people from the ward came. we even had an invest. there too. Then we gave him a church tour. so elder aker and i were just sitting in the car and wanting to know where to go. I pull out the ward list and look to see how we should go see. I see one family that stands out. I wanted to know if that is really who we should go see. so i gave elder Aker the list and said pick someone to go see. and he pick the same person that i did. so we went and they were in need of some service and we were able to help them. It was a part-member family. I really wanted and tryed to teach him. but he still wouldn't have it. so we tryed. Well that's about it for now. PS for mom and dad. Did you ever get my new debit card? if so could you send that to me. I just called about it today. They said that it should be there soon. If you already have one they are sending another one. Well I love you all and miss you tons. See you all in 5 weeks.

Subject: I'm going to work myself in to the ground this transfer.

Hello everybody. How are things things are good here. So i found out that i will be staying here and getting a brand new missionary. I'm training for my last transfer. And I have been chosen for a pilot program with Training. It is going to be a lot of work this new thing that we are doing. We will have 3 hour long studies and it is all planned out what we need to study. I had to go to this big meeting on the program. We have people from the MTC here teaching us how it all works. On transfer day I will have to have a hour long comp. study with my new comp. right in front of the MTC People. And to top it all off, They also made me the DL again. I won't have time to sleep or eat. Well other than that things are good. We have a Baptism this Sat. at 6 and it will be great. She asked me to do her confirmation. That will be a first for me. Some of our other people that we are teaching are moving very slow right now but still moving that's the main thing. I was also really sick this last week. But all better now. so on Friday of last week we got to watch the Movie Avatar. That Movie was really really really really good. I liked it a lot. I can't belive that they let us watch it. It was a lot of fun. We got to watch it because of how good we did one time this last transfer. The whole rest of this week was just tryin to get all of elder Logans crap ready to send home. Well that's about it for this week. I hope every things is going good for all. I love you and miss you tons. See you all in 6 weeks. LOL.

Subject: I can't move my arms. I hurts to much.

So we had another busy week this week. We got a lot done. Everything should be going well with Carrie. She is the lady that should be baptised on the 19th. We have a lesson with her tonight. We went to the FBI Thing that I had done before. It was a lot of fun. It was the biggest headache in the world to get us all there. We also worked out when we were there. I have not worked out that hard for a long time. I did bench 205. That is the most i have ever done. Now I am so tired. I will be hurting a lot tomorrow. We are going to get to go to the mission home this friday to watch a movie because of how well we did last week. They still haven't told us what the movie is going to be. Well thats about it for now sorry it is so short this week. didn't have a lot of time we have to go to a lesson really soon. Well i love you all and miss you tons.

Subject: You have already readied the whole
Book of mormon, and the Doctrine
and Covenants. Holy Crap!!!!!!

Why hello fam. How are things. Things are great. We had a really good week. We got a lot done. We had to work really had at the end of the week to make up for the snow that stopped us from driving. The later in the week we were going to have a lesson with our invest. that has a baptism date for the 5th. Well the snow stopped that. So Now we have to move her date. So is has been move to the 19th. She should make that date. We did end up meeting with her later in the week. Then we went to a member that is having a lot of health problems. And we gave him a blessing. I think that it has been a really long time sense he has been to church. It really didn't seem like he knows anything about it. So after that We got a referral. It was for a guy named Michael Goosman. So we go to his apt. and he is like come on up. So we go in and start asking some questions and we find out that he has readied the Whole BOM and D&C and part of other books. He know like every thing about the church. He is a very smart man. I have high hopes for him. We are teaching him soon. Then we went to help some people move and got the truck stuck in the snow and mud. It was a lot for fun trying to get it out. While the others were trying to get the truck out i was having asnow ball fight with the kids that came to help. It was a lot of fun. I think i through one too manysnow balls. My arm hurt really bad after that. It's fine now. so on Sunday the last day to get all of the lessons and new invest. that we needed to get the mission standard. We needed 5 lessons and 1 new invest. The lessons wasn't going to be that hard to get but the new invest. was. I was praying all day long to have help to find this person that we needed to teach. and with 2 lessons to go we are tracting and the last house that we have time for wanted us to come back and teach him more. I was sooooooooooooooooooooo happy. It was a great day. So right after that we went to one more members house to get our last lesson that we needed. So on Monday we had a lot of miles left and so i thought that it would be a good idea to out a little farther in the area. and so we go to see some members that we never got to see. and later he asked us for a blessing because he was having a really big job interview. He then said that out of the how ever many years that they have lived their the missionaries had stopped by like 2 times and we just happen to stop by on a day that he needed a blessing. Well that's about it for this week. I hope you all like the long email. I love you all and miss you tons.

Hello everybody. How are things? Things are going good here. We had a good week for the most part. We taught 20 lessons this week we were going for 3 New Invests. but we got only 1. I was trying really hard to find 2 more people to teach. Thinks are still hard with my comp. He is just so annoying. I'm trying really hard to get along with him. The really sad thing is that he doesn't even know that he is that way. I don't mean to complain so much it's just really hard right now. So far things with our invest. that is going to be baptised is going well. the other people that we are teaching are really hard to get a hold of right now. so on Saturday we went with the bishop of the ward and did some service with him. It was a lot of fun. We went and took down like 4 trees and chopped them up. It was a lot of work, but it was fun. Well that about it for now. I'm sorry this is sooo short. I really did try to come up with more to talk about. I love you all and miss you tons.

Hello everybody. How are the things of life. I'm good here. We had some great things happen this week. One of our invest. we got her on date. She is going to be baptised on the 5 of Feb. It will be great. One of the other people that we are teaching are just really hard to meet with. My comp is doing fine. Yesterday Sis. Albright came and helped him get all of his crap ready to send home. He had 15 big boxes of crap that he was sending home. And no joke it was crap. It was stuff that he will never look at again. He really felt like he needed it. Sis. Albright is like are you really going to look or use this. he is like ya ya......I'll look at it. Sis. Albright is like sure you are. I will have like 1 or 2 more boxes to send home and I will be done. Did you ever got the last one that i sent home just a little bit ago? You know i just don't know how he has stayed out here this long. he go home in like 4 weeks. It is not the easyest thing with him right now. I don't think that he likes me too much ether. He had been seinor one time in his mission. so other than that things are good. Well thats about it for now. I love you all and miss you tons.

Subject: I hate being sick.

Hi fam. things are good here. Yes I'm sick too. I just have a cold. it's not fun. So here i am in my new area Spotsylvania. It is by far my biggest area. My comp. is Elder Logan. His is fun. He is a really weird. He doesn't teach like at all. I do all of the teaching. I don't really mind too much. This is also his last transfer. I don't think it will make me trunky. He doesn't really talk about it to much. He doesn't really talk at all. We have a lot of good people to teach here. The first day here we got to go and teach a really good lesson to Mike and Courtney. They also can to church. Then we got to teach Carrie. She is great a really spiritual lady. She too came to church. We are planning to put them on date the next time we meet with them. One of the old wards that i worked in go to the same chaple that we go to so i get to see a lot of the people that I knew from that ward. It is really fun. yes mom I did get you letter. I didn't get one from dad. I had thought that he said he was sending one too. I hope everything went well with your thing mom. I still don't know. Nobody has told me. So here is what you need to do mom. Just have one of the girls type you letters and emails. This way we still get letters and emails. So that is about it for now. you will have to tell me what it is like to have Alex home. Well that it for now I love you all and miss you tons.

Subject: What do you mean that "there has been
a change in plans."?

Why hello everybody. How are things? that's great. Well I'm getting transferred. They called last night and told me what was going to Fairfax with some new elder that i didn't know. Well then they called this morning to tell me that there has been a change in plans. Ok so now I'm going to go to the very bottom of the mission again to Spotsilvainia with Elder Logan. He is a dieing missionary. That means it is his last transfer. He is a good guy just doesn't talk much. This will most likely be my last area. I hope things will go well. I will still be in a car. and I'm no longer DL. So now to tell you about the week. So this one day we wanted to go tracting around our E.Q.P. and every one of his neighbors said nothing but good things about his family and that they had tried to share the gospel with them already. That was a fun night of tracting. On new years eve we got to watch Toy Story 3. It was really good. I liked it a lot. It was really funny. We also got to go and see a lot of our invest. that we had not seen forever. Almost all of them made an appt. with us. Then we went to go see some members that live all the way on the other side of our area. They gave us what they thought was a really bad referral. This lady just down the street that they don't even know, had just lost her son in a car accident. He was like 19 or something like that. So we went by yesterday and talked to her about how families can be together forever. She was silent for a bit then asked if we had knowen that her son had just died. As much as I wanted to say no, We told her that the member told us to come. Then she said that she was really sick right then and that she wanted us to come back and tell her more. So on Sat. she wanted us to come back. To bad I wont be there. It was a great thing that happened. I'm so glad that i can be here to see, feel, and learn all of the things that i get to. This is a great blessing in my life. Well thats about it for now. I love you and miss you all tons.

Subject: I want to see the temple. I went there today.

Hello family how are things? So we had some crazy things happen this week. So i was on exchanges and we (elder Johnson and I) went to go and see one of their former Invest. So we go and he is there. He asked us to come in. So elder Johnson starts to ask him so Q's to get to know him. He gets all defensive. So E. Johnson is like OK i wont ask Q's. He then asked us if we wanted food, hot chocolate, water, and coffee etc.... like 40 times. He would just keep asking. finally we just gave in for some food and water just to shut him up. Be the way he has 3 other people there and they are all drinking a lot. So we had been there for a long time. Most of witch he was not even talking to us. So we are like OK well we got to get going and the guy is like you are not going. E. Johnson is like why and the guy is like I'm not holding you hostage. You could have fooled me. Then he tells us that we can't leave until his friends leave first. Then he asked us to make his friends leave. We were like what the crap is going on here. It was so crazy. Then his friends leave and we try to leave and the guy starts to cry. So we just said a pray with him and left. It was really weird. Then later that night we had a lesson with this guy that was all hung up on the trinity thing. It was still a good lesson just really frustrating. Oh i just remembered Prez. Albright came and just happen to come and sit in on my District meeting this week. No big deal. I was sweating bullets. We got to go to the temple today and that was great. I love to go to the temple. On new years eve we are going to be watching toy story 3. That will be a lot of fun. well that is about it for now. I love you all and miss you tons.
